MeatMarket Masterplan (Duke St/Bellgrove old abattoir site)

Finally something cycle-related in East End! However, I went to the consultation with low expectations. It's using City Deal money via Calton Barrowlands Action Plan (CBAP). So I expected it to put a low priority on cycling, like with Byres Road, and it did.
Main thrust is to clean up brownfield site ready for development (housing association involved, to be fair). So, just drawing plots on empty space at this stage.
MeatMarket Masterplan scan (sorry, can't get image to embed.)
Plan ignores 'desire line' at corner of Duke St/Bellgrove St and between High St and Bellgrove (Havannah St from Collegelands, between Great Eastern and Morrisons along to Reidvale St). Has a path for walking/cycling but you'd have to weave quite a bit to use it. A shame as previous site plan from 2007 included a route right through the middle of site (including bulldozing industrial units!).
They're focussing on an 'active travel' shared use path by the railway line despite the fact it would be blocked at both ends.
Consultation staff said they wanted comments ahead of working up revised plans to show in February. Email address for comments is Collegelands-Caltonbarras@drs.glasgow.gov.uk
@dashedlines the markdown syntax for nodebb requires "!" before the embed command.
Current proposed layout:
It's unclear how it will link into Glasgow's developing cycle network; enabling modal shift and helping tackle transport poverty.
It's also interesting to see, at this early stage, lack of continuous pavements at the entrances.

I've done a personal blog post looking at the Meatmarket plans - http://dashedlines.uk/cycling/carving-meatmarket-masterplan/
